Director of Corporate ITTechnology should always deliver tangible value to the business initiatives the team works on.
How did you begin your career at Altenar?
I joined Altenar in 2022 as Head of Corporate IT. At the time, the department was relatively small, with a team of three people operating across two locations. It was an exciting opportunity to help build and shape the company's internal IT function during a period of growth.
Since then, both the company and the Corporate IT department have evolved significantly. Today, I serve as Director of Corporate IT, leading two dedicated sub-teams: Infrastructure & Support CIT and Business CIT, with a global team of 15 professionals.
What has made the journey particularly rewarding is the opportunity to contribute not only to the growth of the technology landscape but also to the development of the team and the overall IT strategy supporting the business internationally.
What qualities are you looking for when you hire people for your team?
When building a team, I look beyond technical skills alone. Strong fundamentals are important, but what truly stands out is attitude and mindset. I value people who are curious, adaptable and committed to continuously learning.
Individuals who take ownership of their work, demonstrate accountability and reliability, and approach challenges proactively are the ones who stand out from the rest. These qualities are essential in a high-performing IT environment.
What are your key work principles?
One of the most important principles I follow is aligning IT goals with business objectives. I strongly believe that IT should support the broader goals of the organisation rather than operate in isolation. Technology should always deliver tangible value to the business initiatives the team works on.
Another key principle is accountability, which captures clear ownership, measurable outcomes and transparency. For me, these are essential for maintaining trust and delivering results.
I also prioritise continuous improvement, both on a personal level and across the team. Learning from past experiences, identifying areas for improvement, embracing innovation, and staying open to new ideas are all essential for long-term success in a constantly evolving industry.
